Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Steamboat Springs is located in the northwestern part of Colorado. The city is situated along the Yampa River, has an historic Old West downtown area and the Steamboat Ski Area. The city has an extensive paved recreational trail system along the Yampa River and has the mountain bikes trails at Emerald Mountain. There is also a 5.2 hiking path along Spring Creek that is open for hiking and mountain bikes.
Yampa River Core Trail
The Yampa River Core Trail is a 5.7-mile long paved pathway that follows alongside the Yampa River throughout the City of Steamboat. The trail goes past several parks and other points of interest. The Downtown Steamboat area is adjacent to the trail as is the Howelsen Hill area. Howelsen Hill has athletics fields, a rodeo area, an ice arena and picnic facilities.
The north end of the Yampa River Core Trail is located at Lagoon Court and Lincoln Avenue at the north side of Steamboat Springs. The south end is located at Dougherty Road to the west of Highway 40.
