Montrose is located in Southwestern Colorado. The city is situated along the Uncompahgre River and to the north of the San Juan mountain range.
Uncompahgre River Greenway
The Uncompahgre River Greenway is a system of paved and unpaved pathways located along the river an on south alongside Highway 550 south of Montrose. There are over 8 miles pathways that wander through the local parks within the city and extend south to the community of Vernal. Most of the pathways within Montrose are paved, but the path alongside Highway 550 is unpaved.
The north end of the Uncompahgre River Greenway is located at W. Main Street to the southwest of S. Townsend Avenue.The south end is at Trout Road and Highway 550.

Sunset Mesa Trail
The Sunset Mesa Trail branches off of the Uncompahgre River Greenway near Baldridge Park. The trail heads up to the Sunset Mesa Sports Park that sits above the city. There are fantastic views looking down on the city and to the San Juan Mountains to the south.
