Recreational trails for walking, running and cycling in Pueblo, Colorado
Pueblo is located along Interstate 25 about 40 miles south of Colorado Springs South Central Colorado. The city is situated along Fountain Creek and the Arkansas River at the base of the foothills.
The city has a network of recreational trails that follow along the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek called the Pueblo River Trail System. There is also a pedestrian pathway system called the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo.
Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo
The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo is a system of paved pathways near Downtown Pueblo. This is a 32-acre riverfront development that is open to the public. The riverwalk has small lakes, walking paths, bridges, boat rides, festivals, shops, gardens, benches, museums, restaurants and other attractions. The riverwalk connects with the rest of the Pueblo River Trail System at its east end.
Pueblo River Trail System
The Pueblo River Trail System has over 14 miles of paved pathways that travel through the natural areas alongside Fountain Creek and Arkansas River. This trail system goes through the heart of Pueblo, connecting communities, local parks, Downtown Pueblo, schools and commercial centers.
The trail system spans from the Colorado State University - Pueblo campus along Highway 47 to the confluence of the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek, then heads west to end at Pueblo Lake State Park.

Lake Pueblo State Park Trail
Within Lake Pueblo State Park, there are over 8 miles of paved pathways. The trail wanders through the natural areas on the north side of the lake to as far as the Northern Plains Campground and S. Nichols Road. The trail also heads to the south of the dam to reach Highway 96.
The park offers fishing, boating, picnicking and beautiful views of the rugged and rocky natural areas that surround the reservoir. The trail services the residential communities located to the north of the state park.
