The Fossil Creek Trail is a set of two separate paved pathways totaling 5.3 miles located on the west and south side of the Fort Collins area. The trail connects neighborhoods and local parks.
The western section of the trail is 3.5 miles long. It starts in Spring Canyon Community Park then heads south past residential neighborhoods. The trail then travels through the Cathy Fromme Prairie Natural Area to stop at S. Shields Avenue.
The eastern section is around 1.8 miles long and starts at the south end of the Mason Trail then tucks under S. College Avenue. The trail follows alongside Fossil Creek Parkway and travels through Fossil Creek Park. The trail tucks under S. Lemay Avenue then stops at Fossil Creek Parkway.
Conditions
The Fossil Creek Trail is paved for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running. There is no connection between the two existing sections.

Nearby Trails
Spring Creek Trail: the two trails meet at Spring Canyon Community Park near the west end of Horsetooth Road.
Mason Trail: the trails meet at the south end of the Mason Trail, just west of S.College Avenue and south of Cameron Drive.
Power Trail: this trail is located 1 mile east of the south end of the Fossil Creek Trail.
Fossil Creek Wetlands Trail: this trail is located 1 mile south of the eastern end of the Fossil Creek Trail.
End Points
The Fossil Creek Trail has two separate sections.
The northwest end of the western section is located in Spring Canyon Community Park near the western end of Horsetooth Road on the west side of Fort Collins. The southeast end of this section is located along S. Shields Street near Hilldale Road. This point is about a mile south of Harmony Road and near the entrance to the Cathy Fromme Prairie.
The east end of the eastern section is located to the west of S. College Avenue and south of Cameron Drive. The south west end of this section is located at S. Lemay Avenue and Fossil Creek Parkway.
