Recreational trails for walking, running and cycling in the Pensacola, Florida
Pensacola is located at the far west end of the Florida Panhandle. The city is situated on Pensacola Bay off of the Gulf of Mexico and is near the border with Alabama.
Pensacola Beach Trail
The Pensacola Beach Trail is a 8.9-mile long paved pathway that follows alongside Route 399 along Pensacola Beach. The trail is located to either side of the bridge coming from the community of Gulf Breeze.
LEAP Trail
The LEAP Trail is a 2.5-mile long paved pathway that is located to the southwest of the Pensacola International Airport. The trail starts at the entrance to the airport, follows alongside N. 12th Avenue, then wraps around the Roger Scott Athletic Complex and then follows alongside Summit Boulevard as far as Jerry L. Maygarden Road.
Blackwater Heritage State Trail
The Blackwater Heritage State Trail is a 10-mile long paved pathway located to the northeast of Pensacola. The trail extends from the City of Milton to the entry gate for Naval Air Station Whiting Field. The route includes several wooden bridges that span over creeks and the woodlands filled with wildflowers and the native wildlife. The trail is a part of Florida's State Greenways and Trails System.
The north end of the trail is located at the boundary for Naval Air Station Whiting Field. At this point the Military Heritage Trail continues another 0.6 miles into the air station.
